7 miners abducted from Balochistan's Chagai

Seven miners were abducted by a group of armed men from a private copper mining company in the Mahian Kaur area of Chagai district, Balochistan, on Wednesday. The incident has prompted an investigation by local authorities.

Company officials reported that eight armed men on motorcycles entered the miners' camp and took the workers hostage at gunpoint. The attackers remained at the site for seven hours, collecting equipment and weapons from guards before departing with seven miners. The abducted workers include four laborers from Gilgit and three local residents.

Sources at the mine indicated that the assailants also seized vehicles, including a Zamyad truck and a four-wheel-drive pickup, along with over 20 solar panels, a motorcycle, bedding, kitchen equipment, 2,500 liters of diesel, and 1,500 liters of petrol. The operation was carried out without resistance before the attackers escaped with the miners and the stolen property.

Despite prompt reporting to authorities, the seven workers and the equipment had not been recovered at the time of publication. The administration has initiated efforts to locate the abducted individuals and retrieve the stolen items, with further investigation into the incident ongoing.
