President Zardari Approves High Court Judge Appointments After Delay

President Asif Ali Zardari has approved the appointment and confirmation of additional judges for several high courts across Pakistan, ending a period of delay. The Presidency announced Tuesday that the President gave his assent to the elevation of judges for the Lahore High Court (LHC), Sindh High Court (SHC), Peshawar High Court, Islamabad High Court, and Balochistan High Court.

In addition to new appointments, the President also confirmed the status of certain additional judges serving on the SHC and LHC, granting them permanent positions. These judicial appointments and confirmations had been pending since July 20 and 21, respectively, awaiting the President's final approval.

The president has approved the appointment of additional judges in the Lahore High Court (LHC), Sindh High Court (SHC), Peshawar High Court, Islamabad High Court, and Balochistan High Court.

The recommendations for these judicial positions were made by the Judicial Commission of Pakistan, the body responsible for nominating candidates for superior court judgeships. The delay in the final approval had left these crucial positions vacant or in a state of uncertainty for an extended period.
