70-year-old dies from heatstroke in Jeongseon; North Jeolla heat-related deaths rise to 3

A man in his 70s has died from heatstroke in Jeongseon, South Korea, marking the third heat-related fatality in the North Jeolla Province this year. The victim was discovered collapsed in a field on July 15 and had been receiving hospital treatment.

Authorities confirmed the death on July 31, with heatstroke identified as the suspected cause. The man, who had pre-existing health conditions, was transferred to intensive care but did not recover. He passed away approximately two weeks after collapsing.

This incident follows two other heat-related deaths in the province last month. A person in their 90s died from suspected heatstroke while farming in Gimje on July 26. Another individual in their 90s was found dead in a field in Gimje on July 29, with heatstroke also listed as a contributing factor by medical personnel. The provincial government is urging residents to take precautions against the ongoing heatwave.
