7th Grader, Victim of Bullying in Pemalang, Dies

A 7th-grade student, identified by the initials AAF and aged 13, has died in Pemalang, Central Java, following alleged bullying incidents at SMPN 4 Randudongkal. Authorities have designated an 8th-grade student from the same school as a child in conflict with the law (ABH) in connection with the case.

The victim was a 7th-grade student, while the alleged ABH is an 8th-grade student at the same school.

According to Pemalang Police Chief AKBP Rendy Setia Permana, the victim was in 7th grade, while the suspect is in 8th grade. The alleged abuse occurred four times in July 2026 at different locations within the school premises, including areas near the science lab, outside a classroom, and near a toilet.

Following the assaults, AAF received medical treatment at the Randudongkal Community Health Center and later at RS Muhammadiyah Mardhatillah. Tragically, the victim was pronounced dead at the hospital on the evening of August 2, 2026. The case was subsequently reported to the Pemalang Police by the victim's mother.

There were four locations at the school. The location under a tree near the school gate, in front of the IPA laboratory room, in front of the 7D classroom, and in front of the school toilet.

In response to the report, the police conducted a thorough investigation, interviewing 17 witnesses, including classmates, a guidance counselor, teachers, and medical personnel. Based on witness testimonies and collected evidence, the police have officially named one student as an ABH.

From the examination of witnesses and secured evidence, the Pemalang Police have designated one child in conflict with the law (ABH).
