81 Firefighters Deployed to Extinguish House Fire in Kebayoran Baru

A fire erupted in a residential house on Jalan Hidup Baru, Gandaria Utara, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, on Saturday, August 22. The blaze was successfully contained by emergency services within 30 minutes of their arrival.

Eighty-one firefighters, supported by 20 fire engines, were dispatched to combat the fire. The Jakarta Selatan Fire and Rescue Service (Gulkarmat) reported receiving the fire alert at 5:47 PM Western Indonesian Time. Firefighters from the Kramat Pela post, along with other units, arrived at the scene two minutes later and commenced firefighting operations shortly thereafter.

Initial reports suggest the fire may have originated from an electrical fault. Residents in the densely populated area attempted to extinguish the fire themselves while awaiting the arrival of the fire department. The fire was localized by 6:15 PM, and the cooling process began at 6:26 PM to ensure no residual hotspots remained. The operation was officially concluded at 6:58 PM, with the fire categorized as extinguished.

The affected building was a low-rise residential house. Fire officials reported no significant challenges during the operation, despite the dense housing conditions. The swift localization of the fire prevented it from spreading to adjacent buildings.
