The recent constitutional changes led to the dissolution of the former bicameral Parliament, comprising the Mazhilis and the Senate. In their place, the Kurultai, a unicameral body, will be established. Seven political parties are competing for 145 mandates within this new assembly, presenting lists of varying sizes in what is the country's tenth parliamentary campaign since 1991.
