A Swedish double secured Liverpool’s first win

Alexander Isak scored twice in the opening nine minutes as Liverpool secured its first Premier League win of the season with a 2-0 victory away to Ipswich.

Cody Gakpo created both goals. In the sixth minute, he carried the ball inside from the left and found Isak near the edge of the area. Isak drove the shot toward goal, and although Ipswich goalkeeper Kjell Scherpen got a hand to it, he could not keep it out.

Three minutes later, Gakpo received the ball near the halfway line and sent an outside-of-the-foot pass toward Isak. The Swedish striker went past Jacob Greaves and slid the ball under Scherpen for his second goal.

Ipswich showed some energy after conceding, but struggled to create genuinely dangerous chances despite reaching promising positions. Liverpool managed the second half comfortably, with few clear opportunities at either end.

The win moved Liverpool into fifth place with five points from three matches. Ipswich remained 13th with three points. Bradley Barcola made his first appearance for the club after coming on, but had little impact. Liverpool’s Alexander Isak celebrated his second goal of the night, while Ipswich forward Abdul Fatawu battled Germany’s Florian Wirtz during the match.
