Accelerated pace of work on the A7 Motorway. CNAIR: 'The objective is for 397 km to be open to traffic this year'

Work on Romania's A7 Motorway, also known as Autostrada Moldovei, is advancing at a swift pace, according to Cristian Pistol, the Director General of the National Company for Road Infrastructure Administration (CNAIR). A key focus of the ongoing construction is the overpass crossing the railway line at Cleja in Bacău County, where the structural framework is currently being built.

The overpass, located at kilometer 83+548 and measuring 1,215 meters in length, involves the installation of beams, concrete pouring for drainage channels, and the construction of the deck slab across multiple spans. Pistol shared an update on Facebook, noting the "good progress" on this critical section of the A7.

On the 47-kilometer stretch between Adjud and Bacău, the Romanian constructor UMB Spedition has mobilized approximately 1,900 workers and 400 pieces of equipment. Preparatory work, including drainage ditches, parking areas, and safety barriers, is nearing completion on the Adjud-Răcăciuni segment.

The objective is that this year it will be possible to travel on 397 kilometers of highway, from Bucharest to Pașcani.

Progress on the A7 Focșani-Bacău section is particularly strong. Lot 2, Domnești Târg to Răcăciuni, has achieved over 95% physical completion. Lot 3, Răcăciuni to Bacău, is approximately 80% complete. These two lots, spanning over 60 kilometers, represent an investment of approximately 4.18 billion lei (excluding VAT) and are financed through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).

Pistol's ambitious goal is to have 397 kilometers of continuous highway operational by the end of 2026. This route would link Bucharest to Pașcani, comprising 62 km of the A3 Motorway (Bucharest-Ploiești), 319 km of the A7 Motorway (Ploiești-Pașcani), and the 16 km Bacău Bypass.
