Actress Arantza Ruiz says anime and video games sustained her marriage

Mexican actress Arantza Ruiz has opened up about her divorce from actor Sebastián Fouilloux, revealing that their three-year marriage was primarily held together by their mutual passion for anime and video games.

Speaking to her fellow contestants on "La casa de los famosos México," Ruiz described her divorce as a positive turning point. She shared that shortly after their separation, her father gifted her an apartment, and her career began to thrive with new opportunities emerging.

Ruiz and Fouilloux, who shared a love for otaku culture and gaming, met in early 2022 and married just two months later. However, Ruiz admitted that their shared screen time was the main binding factor. "The only way we could be okay together was sitting in front of a screen; it was never going to work," she confessed.

The actress highlighted their fundamental personality differences as a major source of marital strain. She described Fouilloux as very rigid and structured, while she characterized herself as more free-spirited and prone to a chaotic way of living. This clash in lifestyles, exemplified by disagreements over household chores like leaving dirty dishes, ultimately proved irreconcilable.

Since her divorce, Ruiz has experienced a significant upswing in her life. She landed a role in a telenovela, reconnected with friends, and found her projects progressing smoothly. "As soon as I got divorced, everything that was stuck and blocked started moving," she said, reflecting on her renewed sense of flow and success.
