Adebayo mourns former Aso Rock chaplain, William Okoye

Prince Adewole Adebayo, the presidential candidate for Nigeria's Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the upcoming 2027 general elections, has expressed sorrow over the death of Rev. Dr. William Okoye. Okoye, the founder and General Overseer of All Christians Fellowship Mission, is remembered by Adebayo as a devout servant of God who consistently advocated for truth, peace, justice, and national reconciliation. Adebayo stated that the late cleric dedicated his life to serving God, fostering unity among Christians, promoting righteousness, and contributing to Nigeria's moral development. The SDP candidate highlighted Okoye's extensive influence, noting that his ministry transcended denominational lines. Okoye inspired many believers to uphold values of holiness, integrity, and selfless service. He held key positions, including Chairman of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) in the Federal Capital Territory, and later served as CAN's National Director on National Issues and Social Welfare. Okoye's service extended to national advisory roles, including the Presidential Advisory Council on Youth Affairs, the National Political Reform Conference, and the Nigerian Christian Pilgrims Commission. He also served as chaplain to two Nigerian presidents and led the Aso Rock Villa Chapel. Adebayo remarked that Nigeria has lost a distinguished Christian leader whose contributions to faith, leadership, and nation-building will be remembered. "Throughout his lifetime, he stood firmly as a voice of truth, peace, justice, and national reconciliation," Adebayo said. "His commitment to raising leaders of character and strengthening the Christian witness in Nigeria has left an enduring legacy that generations will continue to cherish." The SDP candidate extended his condolences to Okoye's family, the leadership and members of All Christians Fellowship, CAN, PFN, and the broader Christian community in Nigeria and internationally. "Although we mourn his departure, we also celebrate a life well spent in faithful service to God and humanity," Adebayo concluded, praying for comfort for the family and hoping that others will continue Okoye's work.
