Adeleke bans NURTW activities in Osun

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has banned all activities of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW) across the state, effective immediately. The directive follows a severe factional crisis within the union that has disrupted business and increased insecurity.

Governor Adeleke announced the decision after a State Security Council meeting on Thursday. He ordered the immediate cessation of all levy collections and other union activities in motor parks throughout Osun. The governor explicitly directed the police and other security agencies to arrest any individual claiming to be an official or executive of the NURTW in any park.

"I hereby direct the police and other security agents to stop all activities of the union in all our parks across the state," the governor stated. "I am not saying you should close the parks, but you should not allow anyone to operate in the parks in the name of the union in our parks. Anyone found contravening this order should be arrested for possible prosecution for disturbance of public peace."

To ensure compliance, the governor also ordered the immediate establishment of a Rapid Response Squad comprising all state security agents. This squad will enforce the directive and maintain order in the parks.
