The appellate court's decision validates the Accord party's position ahead of the Osun State governorship election.

The Court of Appeal in Abuja nullified a Federal High Court judgment that had ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the African Democratic Congress and four other political parties. A three-member panel of the appellate court ruled that the lower court's decision was invalid due to a lack of jurisdiction and that the suit was filed by a non-juristic entity. The court found no legal basis for the deregistration order and faulted the lower court for not properly considering the evidence presented, including records of parties that had won previous elective positions.
