Lagos launches City Boy Movement to mobilize 8 million votes for Tinubu's 2027 re-election

In Lagos, Nigeria, the City Boy Movement has officially launched its state chapter with an ambitious goal: to secure eight million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's re-election in 2027. The movement's South-West Coordinator, Hon. Olamijuwonlo Alao-Akala, declared the region's commitment to this target during the inauguration event.

We in the South-West promised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu nothing less than eight million votes, and you are the ambassadors of those votes.

The movement's mission, as articulated by its Lagos Director-General Barrister Moyosore Ogunlewe, transcends mere political mobilization. It aims to empower Nigerian youths, foster responsibility, and drive national development. Ogunlewe highlighted that young Nigerians, despite their significant population share, are often excluded from civic participation. The City Boy Movement plans to establish a grassroots structure reaching every ward, community, and polling unit to promote national unity and youth involvement in governance.

Today is far more than the inauguration of another state chapter. It is about mobilising and empowering Nigerian youths to be more responsible and committed to the development of the country.

Further emphasizing the movement's role, National Director-General Tosin Shoga stated it serves as a "vehicle that carries the Renewed Hope Agenda to every corner of the country," aiming to bridge the gap between the government and the grassroots. Local political figures, including council chairmen and the son of the Vice President, have publicly committed to supporting the initiative and promoting the administration's programs. These programs encompass infrastructure, education, healthcare, and social welfare initiatives.
