Adeleke's Accord Party Defeats APC in Oyinlola's Polling Unit

In a significant electoral outcome in Osun State, Nigeria, the Accord Party candidate and incumbent governor, Ademola Adeleke, has won the polling unit of former Governor Olagunsoye Oyinlola. This marks a notable defeat for Oyinlola, who recently shifted his political allegiance.

Oyinlola, a retired military general and former governor of Osun State, voted at Polling Unit 003, Ward 01, Court Hall 1, in Okuku, Odo-Otin Local Government Area. Despite his support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, the Accord Party candidate, Governor Adeleke, secured victory at this unit.

Official results from the polling unit show that Governor Adeleke garnered 125 votes. In contrast, the APC candidate received 84 votes. This outcome underscores the political shifts occurring within the state and highlights the Accord Party's strength in Adeleke's home turf.

Oyinlola's political history includes serving as governor from May 2003, re-elected in 2007 under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). However, his second term was truncated in November 2010 by a Court of Appeal ruling, which ushered in former Governor Rauf Aregbesola. The current election results suggest a continued dynamic political landscape in Osun State.
