#OsunDecides2026: Protect votes during collation, Adeleke urges Tinubu

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has appealed to President Bola Tinubu to direct security agencies to safeguard the integrity of the electoral process as vote collation begins for the governorship election. Adeleke voiced concerns over alleged attempts to disrupt or hijack collation centers throughout the state.

In a post on X, Adeleke implored President Tinubu to issue a clear warning to the heads of security agencies deployed in Osun State. He emphasized the imperative of protecting the people and ensuring the integrity of the electoral process. The governor described reports of alleged attempts to disrupt collation centers by politicians as "deeply concerning and unacceptable," especially given the substantial deployment of security personnel.

It is imperative that you use your good office to issue a clear warning to the heads of security agencies deployed to protect the good people of Osun State and safeguard the integrity of the electoral process.

Adeleke urged the President to reaffirm his commitment to ensuring that votes cast by Osun residents are counted and that the final outcome accurately reflects their choices. He specifically called upon the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Nigerian Army, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to adhere strictly to directives. He also stressed the need for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to receive necessary support to conclude the process transparently.

Governor Adeleke also called on INEC to uphold the highest standards of integrity throughout the collation process, emphasizing that the Federal Government had provided adequate security for the election.
