Adeleke slams Osun attacks, seeks Tinubu’s intervention

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has strongly condemned what he described as coordinated attacks allegedly carried out by political thugs across various parts of the state, including Ile-Ife, Ede, and Osogbo. Adeleke issued a statement on Tuesday, denouncing the violence as unacceptable and asserting that no political ambition justifies the bloodshed and suffering of innocent citizens.

I strongly condemn the coordinated attacks carried out by pro-APC political thugs in Ile-Ife, Ede, Osogbo and other parts of our state earlier today. No political ambition is worth the blood, pain, and suffering of innocent citizens.

He directly appealed to President Bola Tinubu, the National Security Adviser Nuhu Ribadu, the Inspector-General of Police, and the Department of State Services to urgently intervene and restore order.

The governor also called upon key political figures in the state, including former Governor Gboyega Oyetola and the APC governorship candidate Bola Oyebamiji, to rein in their supporters. Adeleke warned that continued provocations could lead to the destabilization of the state. He specifically urged them and "everyone behind these provocations" to be called to order before plunging Osun into chaos.

Governor Adeleke reported that he had personally visited the affected communities and met with victims receiving medical treatment at the Osun State Teaching Hospital in Osogbo and the Cottage Hospital in Ede. He also visited the Osogbo Accord Party chairman, who had survived a recent gun attack. Adeleke assured residents that his administration would support the victims and directed security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation, ensuring that all perpetrators, regardless of their political affiliation or status, are brought to justice.

He urged residents to remain calm and law-abiding, noting that additional security measures had been implemented to ensure peace and security across the state.
