Adeleke University Opens 200kWp Solar System to Secure Reliable Power Supply

Adeleke University has inaugurated a 200kWp solar power system for its Senate Building, introducing an installation designed to work even without electricity from Nigeria’s national grid.

DVS Reliable Energy installed the commercial and industrial system. Its managing director and chief executive, David Adewuyi, said it would provide reliable, sustainable electricity while reducing the university’s dependence on grid power and diesel generators.

DVS Reliable Energy would also provide free maintenance services for the entire solar system for the first year.

Adewuyi said the system had operated without grid electricity during seven days of testing. He described it as an off-grid installation that could also support the university when the national supply is available. The solar panels are expected to last up to 25 years, while the batteries carry 10-year warranties and the inverters have five-year warranties. DVS Reliable Energy will provide free maintenance during the first year.

As you can see, even for the past seven days of testing, they have been using it without electricity at all. This system works perfectly with or without electricity. So we can say it is an off-grid installation.

The company described the project as the first of its kind at Adeleke University and a possible starting point for a broader shift toward solar energy across the institution. Adewuyi also praised the university for choosing renewable energy.

Modupe Sanni Adeleke, representing university chairman Deji Adeleke, said reliable electricity was essential to the institution’s operation. She pointed to rising diesel costs and said the university initially considered the solar project expensive before deciding the investment would be worthwhile.
