Aerolíneas Argentinas Improves Net Worth Despite Lower Net Profit in 2025

State-owned Aerolíneas Argentinas has reported a significant financial turnaround, achieving a positive net worth of 18 billion pesos (approximately $11.8 million) in 2025. This marks the first time the airline has recorded a positive net worth in over a decade, signaling a major shift after years of financial struggles. The company's financial statements for 2025, approved by its shareholders, also revealed a net profit of 238 billion pesos ($156.5 million).

While the net profit in 2025 saw a 12% decrease from the 270.8 billion pesos ($178.1 million) recorded in 2024, the airline emphasized that the improved net worth was primarily driven by accumulated positive results from the previous two fiscal years. Crucially, this financial recovery was accomplished without requiring any capital contributions from the national government in 2025.

Further bolstering its financial health, Aerolíneas Argentinas also reported a 52% reduction in its bank and financial debt, which stood at $170.5 million by the end of 2025. Fabián Lombardo, the president of Aerolíneas Argentinas, described these achievements as a profound change for the company, opening a new phase of growth.

Lombardo highlighted that achieving a positive net worth, closing the year without state funding, and generating results that enable a fleet renewal plan funded by its own resources are key indicators of this transformation. The airline, established in 1950, has a complex history of privatization and renationalization, most recently being expropriated by the Argentine state in 2009.
