After Enzo Fernández’s move to Manchester City, Valu Cervantes bids an emotional farewell to Chelsea

Valentina Cervantes said goodbye to Chelsea with a collage of family photographs after her husband, Argentine midfielder Enzo Fernández, completed his move to Manchester City. The transfer, worth £125 million, or 146 million euros, made Fernández the final major signing of the European transfer window’s closing day.

Cervantes’ Instagram post showed her with Fernández and their children, Olivia and Benjamín, wearing Chelsea colors and cheering from the stands. The photographs included celebrations of Chelsea’s Club World Cup victory over Paris Saint-Germain at New Jersey’s MetLife Stadium and its UEFA Conference League win against Betis in Wrocław, Poland.

The images also traced the family’s time in London. When they first visited Stamford Bridge, their younger son had not yet been born. He is now almost three. Cervantes accompanied the post with an emotional-face emoji and a blue heart, signaling nostalgia for the end of an important period as well as happiness about the family’s new start in Manchester.

Fernández joined Chelsea from Benfica in February 2023 for 121 million euros, after playing a key role for Argentina at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar. He moved to London with Cervantes and their daughter, while Benjamín was born later that year. The couple briefly separated in October 2024, when Cervantes left their London home with the children and returned to Buenos Aires. They reconciled in early 2025 after spending the holidays together in Europe. The family of four now faces another move and a new club color.
