After hundreds of ambulances were damaged, paramedics appeal to drivers

With the new school year beginning, traffic volumes are rising sharply and heavy congestion is forming in cities. Lithuania’s Emergency Medical Service is asking drivers to act with particular care and responsibility.

Ambulances responding to emergency calls must reach patients as quickly as possible. Yet even when they use their special warning lights and sound signals, they still face risks in traffic, the service said in a press release.

The appeal follows reports that hundreds of emergency ambulances have been damaged. The service called on all road users to help ensure that medical crews can reach patients safely and without delay.
