Agricultural Giant Buys Ranch Four Times the Size of Warsaw, Taking Its Holdings Above 6 Million Hectares

Consolidated Pastoral Company has added another vast Australian cattle station to its portfolio, buying Vermelha in the Northern Territory for A$47.4 million, or about 65.9 million Polish zlotys.

The property covers 2,040 square kilometres, nearly four times the area of Warsaw. The deal also includes a herd of 15,000 cattle and rights to use more than 2,956 megalitres of water annually.

After the acquisition, CPC’s total water rights in the Northern Territory rose to 18.5 billion litres a year. The company plans to use them to develop irrigated fodder crops, allowing it to expand its herds while reducing their dependence on rainfall.

Vermelha also holds permission to clear 3,659 hectares of natural land for cultivation. CPC, one of Australia’s largest private agricultural and livestock companies, now uses more than 6 million hectares. Its holdings include more than 400,000 cattle, about 150,000 sheep and 50,000 goats.
