Ahlat Prepares for 955th Anniversary of Battle of Manzikert, to Host Cabinet Meeting

Ahlat, Turkey, is fully prepared to host events commemorating the 955th anniversary of the Battle of Manzikert. The preparations have been finalized in the Ahlat district of Bitlis, which will serve as the central location for the celebrations.

Governor Ahmet Karakaya visited Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Millet Bahçesi to inspect the final arrangements and the tents set up in the area. He was welcomed by mounted units and motorized teams. Governor Karakaya took commemorative photos with participants before visiting the Bitlis Governorship tent with Ahlat District Governor Özgür Kaya and Ahlat Mayor Yavuz Gülmez.

Our President will address the world from this area and will have messages for the world. Following that, the Cabinet meeting was held in Ahlat for the last two years. This year too, God willing, we will gather the Cabinet in Ahlat and facilitate the making of important decisions.

Mayor Yavuz Gülmez announced that in addition to a khan tent, 50 thematic tents have been established. These tents will host guests from various institutions, non-governmental organizations, municipalities, and different parts of the world. The events aim to connect youth with the diverse cultures, traditions, and values of the Turkish and Islamic world. Highlights include various competitions, gastronomy events, and air shows by SoloTürk and Çelik Kanatlar. Gülmez also confirmed that the Kökbörü final will take place in Ahlat, with plans for the Traditional Equestrian Sports Federation to hold the final organization there in future years.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is scheduled to address the attendees from the event area on August 25. Following his address, a cabinet meeting will convene in Ahlat for the third consecutive year, signaling its continued importance as a venue for significant national decisions. The celebrations will then transition to Malazgirt on August 26, the anniversary of the victory.
