Ahmad Zahid denies knowledge of alleged meeting between BN, PN, GPS, GRS

Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Zahid Hamidi, chairman of Barisan Nasional (BN), has stated he is unaware of any alleged meeting between leaders of BN, Perikatan Nasional (PN), Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS), and Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) in Kuala Lumpur. The Deputy Prime Minister confirmed he made inquiries, including with sources within the Home Ministry, but found no information to support the claims.

"I know nothing about it. I have checked with the Home Minister, and according to sources, there is nothing, I don't know," Zahid told reporters after attending the Immigration Day 2026 celebration in Cyberjaya.

He was responding to rumors circulating on social media about a potential meeting of political blocs, including BN, scheduled for that afternoon. The social media posts did not specify the purpose or motive behind the alleged gathering.

When questioned about UMNO and BN's continued support for the unity government leading up to the 16th General Election (PRU16), Ahmad Zahid reiterated the party's stance. He emphasized that the party's position has been solidified through resolutions passed at the UMNO General Assembly, which are respected by the entire leadership. "That is our stance and resolution that we brought to the General Assembly. There is no body higher than the General Assembly, and we greatly respect that decision. So, I hope you don't worry," he added.
