AHY Urges Public to Make Environmental Care a Culture

Agus Harimurti Yudhoyono, the Chairman of the Democratic Party, is calling on Indonesians to integrate environmental consciousness into their daily lives, transforming it into a sustainable cultural practice. He stressed that protecting nature is a shared responsibility, achievable through simple actions in everyday routines.

"We certainly want and must protect all of this so that our environment remains clean, the sky remains blue, meaning no pollution, so everything is clean. This will make our lives more comfortable, healthy, and civilized," AHY stated in a written release on Friday, July 24, 2026. He highlighted Indonesia's natural wealth and tourist destinations that require preservation.

The Democratic Party initiated the "Gerakan Nasional Langit Biru Indonesia Asri" as part of its 25th-anniversary celebrations. The movement includes environmental clean-ups, tree planting, free health checks, and the refurbishment of places of worship and public facilities. AHY believes these efforts will not only foster a cleaner environment but also benefit tourism and local economies, supporting creative industries and small businesses.

AHY hopes the environmental protection spirit will endure beyond the anniversary events, becoming an intrinsic part of the community's character. The national movement has seen significant participation, with 31,243 individuals engaging in 217 actions across various regions up to the third week of July 2026. The party aims to involve young people and students, emphasizing the importance of instilling clean living habits early on.
