airBaltic cuts flights from Lithuania, unveils direct routes for next year

airBaltic is sharply reducing the number of direct destinations available from Lithuania in its 2027 summer schedule. From Vilnius, the airline plans to fly directly to eight European cities, while Palanga will retain two routes.

The summer program, running from late March to late October 2027, includes flights from Vilnius to Riga, Amsterdam, Tallinn, Paris, Munich, Düsseldorf, Hamburg and Lisbon. The airline plans up to four daily flights to Riga, two daily flights to Amsterdam and varying weekly frequencies to the other destinations.

From Palanga, airBaltic will continue direct services to Amsterdam twice a week and Riga up to twice a day. The company says the revised network reflects an updated business plan and a strategy built around demand and revenue potential for both business and leisure travelers.

Riga will become more important for Lithuanian passengers. airBaltic says its redesigned Riga network and adjusted schedules will provide access to 57 direct destinations across Europe and beyond, although many journeys from Lithuania will now require a connection there.

“Lithuania is an important part of the airBaltic network, so we remain committed to ensuring convenient travel opportunities from Vilnius and Palanga,” said Mantas Vrubliauskas, the airline’s vice president for network management. He said direct business and leisure routes, combined with connections in Riga, would give passengers more options across the wider network.

The change is particularly clear when compared with the planned 2026 summer schedule, which linked Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga with more than 20 direct destinations. The 2027 winter schedule will still offer 20 direct destinations from Vilnius, but only eight are listed for the following summer. Palanga will have two winter routes, to Riga and Amsterdam.
