Aiyedatiwa re-appoints Fasoranti’s son as SSG

Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa has approved the re-appointment of Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti as the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), signaling a return to his previous role.

The Governor of Ondo State, His Excellency, Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, has approved the re-appointment of Dr Taiwo Fasoranti as the Secretary to the State Government.

Dr. Fasoranti, son of Pa Reuben Fasoranti, the National Leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political association Afenifere, had previously resigned from the SSG position on March 30, 2026. His resignation was to pursue a senatorial ticket for the Ondo Central Senatorial District under the All Progressives Congress (APC). However, he was unsuccessful in securing the party's nomination for the upcoming general election.

Dr Fasoranti was the SSG until March 30, 2026 when he resigned to contest in the Senate primaries of the All Progressives Congress for Ondo Central Senatorial District.

In a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Ebenezer Adeniyan, the re-appointment takes immediate effect. The statement highlighted that Dr. Fasoranti brings "a wealth of experience in public administration, policy formulation, and governance" to the office. Governor Aiyedatiwa congratulated the SSG on his return and charged him to "justify the confidence reposed in him by serving the people of the state with dedication, integrity, and commitment to the ‘Our Ease’ agenda of his administration."

It was previously reported that Fasoranti had been declared the winner of the Ondo Central Senatorial District APC primary in May. However, his name was reportedly replaced with that of the incumbent senator, Niyi Adegbonmire. This re-appointment places Fasoranti back in a key administrative role within the state government.
