Oyo APC urges Makinde to fix health, education sectors

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State has voiced strong criticism of Governor Seyi Makinde's administration, lamenting what it calls an "unacceptable degree of rot" in the state's health and education sectors. The party urged the governor to take immediate action to rectify these problems for the benefit of the citizens.

Despite the mellifluous access to funds, the Makinde administration has been found wanting in the delivery of good governance in all ramifications.

The APC's statement, issued by its Publicity Secretary Olawale Sadare, highlighted a viral social media video depicting a man distressed by the absence of medical personnel at Adeoyo State Hospital. The party also pointed to the dilapidated state of major public hospitals, including Lautech Teaching Hospital and Adeoyo State Hospitals, noting a severe lack of functional laboratories and essential medical equipment like MRI and X-ray machines.

There are no functional test laboratories in Oyo public hospitals while equipment such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), X-ray machines are nowhere to be found.

Beyond the health sector, the APC decried the condition of public schools, describing classrooms as being in "deplorable condition." The party also raised concerns about teachers facing pressure from excessive salary and allowance deductions. Sadare accused the Makinde administration of prioritizing "personal ambition and politicking" over the needs of the people, despite the state's access to significant funds from federal allocations and grants.

As a matter of fact, we are concerned about the likelihood of things going worse before the expiration of Governor Makinde’s maximum tenure because he has not left anyone in doubt of his determination to prioritize personal ambition and politicking to the detriment of the good people of the state who desire quality leadership and value for the huge resources at his disposal.
