AKOM Daily Forecast: Istanbul Faces Heatwaves This Week

Istanbul is bracing for another week under the influence of a dual heatwave system, drawing warm air from both Africa and the Persian Gulf. According to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM), the city will experience predominantly sunny skies. Daily temperatures are predicted to peak around 33°C in the afternoon, with cooler morning temperatures around 24°C, and evening and night temperatures settling at 25°C and 23°C, respectively. Humidity levels are expected to range between 45% and 85%. Adding to the warm conditions, strong northeasterly winds are anticipated, blowing intermittently at speeds of 20 to 50 km/h. The sea temperature in Istanbul is currently recorded at 24°C. This combination of heat, wind, and humidity is typical for the region during this season. Looking ahead from Tuesday, August 25, to Sunday, August 30, AKOM's weekly forecast indicates a continuation of dry and warm weather. Skies are expected to remain mostly clear, with some partial cloudiness. Daily high temperatures during this latter part of the week are projected to range between 28°C and 31°C, indicating a slight decrease from the week's peak but still remaining warm.
