AKOM warns of strengthening 'poyraz' winds in Istanbul

Istanbul is set to experience a significant increase in wind speed as the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality's Disaster Coordination Center (AKOM) issued a "poyraz" warning for Monday.

Starting Monday afternoon, northerly winds are predicted to gust between 30 and 60 kilometers per hour across the city. This strong wind will make the perceived temperature drop below 30 degrees Celsius, offering a slight respite from the week's expected highs. Daytime temperatures are forecast to range between 31 and 33 degrees Celsius throughout the week.

The weather report from AKOM indicates a predominantly sunny and partly cloudy sky with no precipitation expected for the entire week. The temperature will fluctuate throughout the day, starting at 23 degrees Celsius in the morning, rising to 31 degrees by noon, cooling to 27 degrees in the evening, and settling at 24 degrees overnight. Humidity levels are expected to vary between 30% and 70%.

From Tuesday through Sunday, the forecast remains consistent with clear skies and minimal cloud cover. The highest temperatures will hover between 29 and 31 degrees Celsius. Sea water temperature is reported at 24 degrees Celsius. The strong winds are the main weather event to note for the coming days.
