AKP's Çamlı expresses 'deep embarrassment' over Trump arrival coverage

Ahmet Hamdi Çamlı, a former lawmaker for Turkey's ruling AKP party, voiced strong disapproval of the media's coverage surrounding Donald Trump's arrival for a NATO summit. Çamlı, who previously represented Istanbul, took to social media to express his dismay.

He specifically criticized television channels for their sensationalist reporting of Trump's plane approaching Ankara. The channels had provided minute-by-minute updates on the flight's progress and excitedly broadcast radar images of the aircraft. Çamlı found this level of coverage to be excessive and inappropriate for the occasion.

"For the TV channels that reported with excitement how many minutes were left until US President Trump, who will attend the NATO meeting in Ankara, would land here and there, and even showed the movements of his plane on radar, I feel a deep embarrassment and shame," Çamlı stated. His remarks highlight a critique of journalistic standards and the perceived overemphasis on trivial details during significant international events.
