Aks Smashes Personal Best by Six Seconds in European Championship 400m Heats

Josefine Tomine Eriksen Aks delivered a stunning performance at the European Championships in Birmingham, clocking a personal best of 50.83 seconds in the 400-meter preliminary heats.

The 25-year-old Sem runner's time was not only a significant improvement on her previous personal record of 51.43 seconds but also the fastest among the 19 competitors in the heats. She expressed her surprise at the strong showing, stating to NRK, "I am surprised. I didn't think I'd achieve such a good time."

Eriksen Aks, a crucial component of Norway's 4x400 meter relay team that recently won the "World Relay Championships," demonstrated her current form with this impressive run. Her time was faster than any other competitor in the preliminary round, with Myrte van der Schoot coming closest at 51.21 seconds.

While Eriksen Aks advanced with a top performance, other Norwegian athletes faced different outcomes. Lakeri Ertzgaard did not qualify from her heat, finishing with a time of 52.71 seconds, despite her personal best being 51.92 seconds. Meanwhile, athletes like Henriette Jæger were directly qualified for the semifinals based on their season's best performances.
