Al-Anwariyah Islamic boarding school in Cirebon catches fire, losses reach hundreds of millions

A significant fire ravaged a building at the Al-Anwariyah Islamic boarding school in Cirebon, West Java, on Monday afternoon. The incident occurred in Blok 4, Tegal Gubug Lor Village, Arjawinangun District, causing substantial material damage.

Firefighters were alerted to the blaze around 1:40 PM local time. Upon arrival, they found the third floor of the pesantren engulfed in flames. Firefighters immediately worked to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading to nearby structures. Due to the intensity of the fire and its location on the upper floor, additional personnel and water supply were requested from neighboring fire stations.

Initial investigations suggest the fire originated from faulty electrical wiring in a student rest area on the third floor. The building's semi-permanent construction, largely made of wood, allowed the fire to spread rapidly. Fortunately, the fire broke out when students were not present in the affected area, preventing any casualties.
