Alcohol-fueled argument ends in knife attack in downtown Mexico City; two arrested

A night of drinking in Mexico City's historic Centro neighborhood turned violent when an argument between individuals escalated into a knife attack, resulting in one man sustaining injuries. The incident occurred on Eje Central Lázaro Cárdenas near República de Perú.

According to police reports, a 36-year-old man was allegedly attacked by a woman with whom he was socializing, accompanied by another man. During the altercation, the woman reportedly produced a knife and inflicted stab wounds on the man before fleeing the scene with her companion.

Paramedics from Protección Civil responded to the scene and provided immediate medical attention to the injured man. He was subsequently transported to a hospital for treatment of two stab wounds to his right arm and a penetrating injury to his right side.

Authorities utilized surveillance cameras from the Centro Histórico Command and Control Center (C2) to track the suspects. The cameras helped police locate the woman and the man on Eje Central Lázaro Cárdenas and Pedro Moreno street, leading to their apprehension. A knife, believed to be the weapon used in the attack, was recovered and has been submitted as evidence.

The two arrested individuals have been presented to the Public Ministry, which will determine their legal status and continue the investigation to clarify the events surrounding the assault.
