Alexis Georgoulis denies political aspirations with Golden Dawn, clarifies stance

Former MEP and actor Alexis Georgoulis has issued a new statement to clarify his position regarding the political party Golden Dawn, following public "noise" generated by his recent remarks. In a new video, Georgoulis explicitly stated that he has no intention or thought of politically associating with Nikos Michaloliakos's party.

Georgoulis's clarification came after he was contacted about potentially cooperating with Golden Dawn, based on an interview where his stance was perceived as unclear. "Hello. They just called me and asked if I would cooperate with Golden Dawn based on an interview I gave recently and my position wasn't clear enough. Okay, let me clarify now," he said in the video, aiming to end any misunderstandings.

The controversy originated from an interview where Georgoulis responded to a question about whether he would ever run as an MEP for Golden Dawn. He replied, "I don't think so. Never say never, of course, because if we reach a point that is so extreme, you also have to act extremely." He further elaborated using an analogy about self-defense in war, suggesting that in extreme circumstances, one might need to take extreme actions, but stressed he would not harm anyone.

Georgoulis emphasized that he has explained his position numerous times and sees no reason for further speculation or misinterpretations. He expressed hope that the issue is definitively resolved so he can calmly focus on his upcoming professional and personal endeavors.
