Malaysia's contemporary art landscape has entered a new dimension with the official opening of "Algorithmic Organisms 2.0." This exhibition marks the country's first immersive audiovisual art experience, merging artificial intelligence (AI) with creative expression. The event, hosted at The Grey Box, GMBB Kuala Lumpur, runs from today until July 19.

The exhibition centers on spatial storytelling, integrating generative visuals, immersive soundscapes, and ever-changing digital life forms that evolve in real-time. It is organized by the Jazzy Group of Companies and presented by MAISEAT, with support from the National Art Gallery and the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands. The featured artist is the international audiovisual artist Ray Tijssen, widely known as 0010ร—0010.

Joanne Goh, Founder and CEO of Jazzy Group of Companies, expressed her commitment to bringing more world-class creative experiences to Malaysia and expanding the local digital art scene. She described "Algorithmic Organisms 2.0" as more than just an exhibition; it's an interactive experience designed to transform how the public perceives and enjoys art. "It invites visitors to step into a living audiovisual environment where AI-generated imagery, immersive sound, and digital life constantly change and evolve in real-time," Goh explained.

Tijssen elaborated on his creative process, noting that each piece begins with sound elements before translating them into visuals, establishing the atmosphere for the overall artistic experience. He believes AI opens new frontiers in art, as human creativity has been explored extensively for over a century. "I feel that as humans, we have used 100 percent of human creation, and it has been at its maximum because we have been doing it for over 100 years. This technology allows us to take art to a higher level," Tijssen stated.

Tijssen began exploring AI's potential in 2020, integrating the technology more broadly two years later, which led to his first solo exhibition in London. As part of the exhibition's program, he also conducted a masterclass titled "Machine Vision & Human Expression: An Interactive Masterclass with 0010ร—0010" at the National Art Gallery. Tickets for the exhibition are priced at RM49 for standard entry and RM34 for students, available through MAISEAT, Klook, and CloudJoi, with a special promotion of RM35 for GMBB visitors upon same-day receipt redemption.
