Alia hails Tinubu for approving army’s 5 Division headquarters Makurdi

Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has lauded President Bola Tinubu's approval for the establishment of a new Nigerian Army 5 Division Headquarters in Makurdi, a move he believes will significantly bolster security and stability across the nation.

The governor stated that this approval underscores President Tinubu's commitment to strengthening Nigeria's security architecture. The new division, created through an expansion of the army's operational structure from eight to 12 divisions, will oversee security operations in Benue, Nasarawa, and Kogi states. Alia expressed confidence that this expansion will lead to improved command and control, quicker responses to security threats, and enhanced protection of lives and property in the region.

Governor Alia highlighted that the establishment of the 5 Division Headquarters would complement his administration's ongoing efforts to combat criminality, safeguard farming communities, and restore lasting peace in Benue State, which has faced persistent security challenges. He also commended the President for approving the recruitment of an additional 28,000 Nigerian Army personnel.

Furthermore, Alia applauded the sustained investments in military equipment, troop welfare, and operational readiness nationwide. He asserted that these measures reflect President Tinubu's determination to build a well-equipped and highly motivated armed forces capable of safeguarding Nigeria's sovereignty and protecting its citizens. Governor Alia reaffirmed his administration's dedication to collaborating with the Federal Government and security agencies to achieve lasting peace, improved security, and sustainable development in Benue State.
