Aliki Vougiouklaki's Vow: Actress's Personal Pilgrimage to Tinos for Motherhood Captured in Rare Photo

A poignant and previously unseen photograph of beloved Greek actress Aliki Vougiouklaki has emerged, offering a glimpse into a deeply personal moment from 1970. The image, shared by her son Giannis Papamichaïl, captures Vougiouklaki holding her infant son within the sacred Church of Panagia Evangelistria in Tinos.

This rare snapshot is intrinsically tied to Vougiouklaki's heartfelt desire to become a mother. According to Papamichaïl, his mother visited the revered icon of Panagia of Tinos in August 1968, seeking divine intervention to conceive. Her prayers were answered a year later with the birth of her only son.

The photograph, taken by Vougiouklaki's personal photographer Klisthenis, documents the family's return to Tinos on June 4, 1970. It was on this occasion that Vougiouklaki, accompanied by her husband and godparents Tzellas and Filopimenas Finos, had her son baptized, fulfilling the vow she had made to the Virgin Mary. The image remained private for over five decades, adding to its emotional significance.

A commemorative album dedicated to Aliki Vougiouklaki, produced by Studio Klisthenis, is slated for release this autumn, promising further insights into the life of the iconic actress.
