Almaty restricts traffic on Al-Farabi Avenue for Gran Fondo World Championship

Almaty is implementing temporary traffic restrictions on Al-Farabi Avenue on August 16 to accommodate the Gran Fondo World Championship. The closures are designed to ensure the safety of the approximately 1,000 amateur athletes expected to compete from more than 20 countries.

A specific section of Al-Farabi Avenue, between Dostyk Avenue and the Talgar Highway, will experience restrictions from 05:30 to 06:40. A broader closure will be in effect on Al-Farabi Avenue from Dostyk Avenue to Navoi Street between 05:30 and 10:30.

Drivers are urged to plan their routes in advance to account for these temporary disruptions. The championship features race distances of 95, 50, and 37 kilometers, with both the start and finish lines located at 40 Al-Farabi Avenue.

Additional traffic measures are in place around the city. From August 11 to August 15, reversible lanes will operate on a section from the city limits to Dauletkerey Street. On August 14, between 16:00 and 00:00, closures will affect Abay Avenue and Satpayev Street from Baizakov Street to Seifullin Avenue, as well as Baitursynov Street from Shevchenko Street to Timiryazev Street.
