Aluminum plaque with martyr's info found; relative contacts authorities

Authorities in Da Nang have received contact from an individual claiming to be the nephew of a fallen soldier, whose identity may be revealed by an aluminum plaque discovered in a cemetery. The plaque, inscribed with 'Liệt sĩ: NG T TRO' (Martyr: NG T TRO), was found among remains at the Bac Tra My Martyrs' Cemetery.

The discovery occurred during excavations aimed at collecting biological samples for DNA testing to identify martyrs. The plaque also includes a birth year (1949) and a date (HS 18-4-76), along with place names 'X-HONG PHONG' and 'H-CHUONG MY', and the province 'HA TAY'.

An individual named Thuan, from the former Ha Tay province, contacted the military command of Tra My commune. He identified himself as the nephew of a martyr named Nguyen Tien Tro and stated that the information on the plaque closely matches his family's records regarding his uncle.

Thuan mentioned that his family had long searched for Nguyen Tien Tro's grave without success. He indicated that his father, the martyr's brother, also plans to travel to Da Nang. The military command has guided Thuan on providing biological samples for DNA comparison to formally confirm the soldier's identity. If the DNA results are conclusive and the family wishes to repatriate the remains, they will be advised on the necessary procedures.
