‘Amadeus’ Sets Out on Its Farewell Tour

After drawing more than 500,000 spectators, Turkey’s production of Peter Shaffer’s “Amadeus” is preparing for its final season and a farewell tour across the country.

The tour will begin on Sept. 14 at Istanbul’s Atatürk Cultural Center. It will then travel to Adana, Mersin, Ankara, Kocaeli, Bursa and Eskişehir before completing the production’s stage journey.

Selçuk Yöntem plays Antonio Salieri and Tansu Biçer portrays Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Dilan Çiçek Deniz and Özlem Öçalmaz alternate in the role of Costanze. Işıl Kasapoğlu directs the production, which explores the rivalry between Mozart and Salieri.

The show’s 70-person team includes the designers responsible for period-inspired sets and costumes. Its musical world and visual design have helped it earn six Crystal Apple awards, four Felis awards and an international award in the Logo category at the ADC 100th Annual Awards. It also won three Direklerarası Audience Awards, including Best Director for Kasapoğlu, Continuous Excellence for Yöntem and Best Production for Çolpan İlhan & Sadri Alışık Theatre and Piu Entertainment.

The scheduled performances include Adana on Oct. 12, Mersin on Oct. 13, Ankara on Oct. 16, Istanbul on Oct. 30, Kocaeli on Nov. 30, Bursa on Dec. 11 and Eskişehir on Dec. 16. Tickets are available through Biletinial, Biletix, Bubilet and Passo.
