Aman Palestin: Court Rejects RM21 Million Asset Forfeiture Bid by Anti-Corruption Agency

The executive chairman of Aman Palestin Berhad, Tuan Haji Abdullah Zaik, voiced his gratitude after the Shah Alam High Court dismissed a request by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (SPRC) to forfeit RM21 million from 12 bank accounts and a gold bar belonging to the organization. Abdullah Zaik stated that the decision provides relief to the organization, which chose to clear its name through legal proceedings.

According to the court's ruling, the SPRC failed to demonstrate that the funds in the 12 bank accounts and the gold bar purchase were connected to illicit activities under Section 4(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLATFPUAA). Previously, media reported that the SPRC had applied to forfeit a gold bar and RM21 million across 12 bank accounts owned by Aman Palestin Sdn. Bhd. through proceedings at the Shah Alam High Court. Abdullah Zaik also urged that no parties take advantage of the situation to spread negative perceptions or twist the narrative surrounding the court's decision. He acknowledged the SPRC's diligent work during the investigation and confirmed Aman Palestin's full cooperation, extending thanks to their legal team for their efforts in achieving this outcome.
