American Guard Mike Caffey Joins BC Šiauliai

American point guard Mike Caffey is set to bring his considerable European basketball experience to BC Šiauliai after signing a one-year contract with the Lithuanian club. The 33-year-old playmaker is expected to be a key addition as Šiauliai expands its presence on the international stage.

Šiauliai's head coach, Darius Songaila, highlighted Caffey's proven ability to manage games during crucial moments, citing his MVP award from the 2024-2025 European North Basketball League (ENBL) Final Four. "Mike has accumulated solid experience in European basketball, which will be extremely important as we step onto the international arena," Songaila stated. "A year ago, he deservedly became the most valuable player of the ENBL Final Four, which shows his ability to manage the team's game at the most important moments. This is a strong addition that we really needed."

The 183 cm tall guard spent the last two seasons with Romania's Voluntari CSO, competing in both the Romanian league and the ENBL. With the Romanian team, Caffey reached the Final Four twice consecutively and was instrumental in their championship win in the 2024-2025 season, earning him the MVP title. In the domestic league last season, he averaged 10.9 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 4.2 assists per game over 36 matches, playing an average of 23 minutes.

Caffey's extensive resume also includes stints in the top leagues of Poland, Germany, Ukraine, Slovakia, Finland, Greece, and Hungary. BC Šiauliai has already begun its preseason, securing an initial victory against Latvian champions Valmieras Glass VIA with a score of 117-99. The team is scheduled to play against Baku Sabah next and will participate in the Algimantas Micius Cup tournament.
