Amorim's Milan Impresses in Serie A Opener with 2-1 Win Over Torino

AC Milan launched their Serie A season with a convincing 2-1 away win against Torino, signaling a positive start to Rúben Amorim's project. The victory, secured by goals from Alphadjo Cissé and Adrien Rabiot, offered encouraging signs for a Milan side aiming to reclaim the Scudetto after a title drought since 2022.

Amorim, drawing from the Portuguese coaching school, seeks to replicate his success with Sporting Portugal by elevating Milan back to the elite of Italian football. The club has invested heavily in the transfer market under a new leadership team. Milan dominated possession in the first half, with Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Cissé influencing the play, supported by high pressing and effective wing play, notably from Samuel Chukwueze. Torino, meanwhile, focused on counter-attacks, featuring Giovanni Simeone.

New signing Goncalo Ramos made his debut but struggled to create clear chances against Torino's defense, marshaled by Ardian Ismajili. Spanish debutant Mario Gila, formerly of Real Madrid, also impressed with his ball distribution before being substituted due to discomfort. Luka Modric entered the game in the 56th minute, quickly making an impact with two dangerous corner-kick deliveries.

Nineteen-year-old Cissé broke the deadlock in the 64th minute, scoring on his Milan and Serie A debut. Rabiot then doubled the lead two minutes later, converting a cross from Chukwueze. Torino managed a late consolation in the 92nd minute through a spectacular overhead kick by Che Adams, but it proved too late to alter the outcome. Milan's win puts them in early contention with fellow victors Inter and Juventus.
