The Anambra State Police Command has launched an investigation into the tragic death of 80-year-old Paul Onwualu, who was allegedly beaten to death by police officers in Nkpor, Idemili North Local Government Area. Eyewitness accounts paint a grim picture: security operatives, accompanied by individuals opposing Onwualu's claim to the throne, stormed his residence on Thursday with the intent to arrest him. During the alleged confrontation, the octogenarian was reportedly assaulted and beaten into a coma before being forcibly bundled into a police vehicle. He reportedly collapsed en route to the Ogidi Police Station and was later confirmed dead upon arrival at Iyi-Enu Mission Hospital.

Onwualu's wife, Anthonia, tearfully recounted the brutal assault, stating that her husband was beaten into a coma before being whisked away. The involvement of individuals scaling the compound fence to gain access highlights the aggressive nature of the operation.
