Ancelotti to Rebuild Brazil Squad with Young Talent After World Cup Exit

Following Brazil's disappointing elimination in the Round of 16 at the 2026 World Cup, coach Carlo Ancelotti is embarking on a comprehensive renovation of the national team. He met with Brazil's national team department in Rio de Janeiro to map out the strategy for the five-time world champions' upcoming commitments. "We will begin building a new team. We will observe and test young players, without discarding some footballers who were at the World Cup," Ancelotti stated, emphasizing his intention to blend emerging talent with established figures. He believes that players who participated in the recent World Cup still have valuable contributions to make. The Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) confirmed Ancelotti's return to Brazil to resume activities with the technical commission. The meeting included discussions on the team's schedule, with friendly matches planned for September and October, followed by another international break in November to conclude 2026. The CBF also noted that the 2030 World Cup qualifiers will commence in the second half of 2027, with new tournament rules impacting qualification due to host nations Argentina, Paraguay, and Uruguay receiving automatic berths.
