Angelica Moser defends European pole vault title with perfect competition

Angelica Moser has once again claimed the European pole vault title, delivering a near-perfect performance to defend her championship in Birmingham. The 28-year-old Swiss athlete was the sole competitor to successfully clear the 4.80-meter mark, achieving this feat on her first attempt. This victory marks her second outdoor European championship title, solidifying her status as one of Switzerland's most reliable medal contenders.

Moser's coach, Adrian Rothenbühler, noted her remarkable ability to perform under pressure, stating, "I immediately sense when she goes into focus. It's best not to get in her way then, because she has a mission." This competitive drive is reflected in her extensive record, which includes winning numerous junior and senior European and World Championship titles.

Despite a history of health issues and injuries that require her to adapt her training, Moser consistently delivers top performances. Her personal best stands at 4.88 meters, set in 2024. She aims to build on this success, with the ultimate goal of winning an Olympic medal at the 2028 Los Angeles Games, which would be a first for a Swiss track and field athlete.

However, her path has been consistently challenged by setbacks. Last winter, plantar fasciitis and a strain sidelined her from full training leading up to the indoor World Championships. She is currently undergoing specialized therapy in Ambri to manage these issues, demonstrating her dedication to overcoming obstacles in pursuit of her athletic ambitions.
