Anne Hathaway recounts battle with early-onset cataracts

Actress Anne Hathaway has shared her decade-long struggle with early-onset cataracts, a condition that significantly impaired her vision. The 43-year-old star detailed the serious impact the condition had on her left eye during a podcast with The New York Times.

I suffered from early-onset cataracts, and it greatly affected my vision. Basically, I was legally considered blind in my left eye. Eventually, I had surgery.

Hathaway described how the cataracts led to a drastic decline in her vision, to the extent that she was legally considered blind in her left eye. She eventually underwent surgery to correct the issue.

It was only after the operation, when her sight was restored, that Hathaway realized the full extent of her vision loss. "I didn't realize how severe the condition was until I could see the whole spectrum clearly again," she stated. The recovery brought her a sense of peace, as she hadn't understood the strain the condition placed on her nervous system.
