Anom Widiyantoro: From State-Owned Enterprise to KPK Arrest

JAKARTA: The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) apprehended Pemalang Regent Anom Widiyantoro in an operation on Tuesday, July 28, making him the 12th regional leader to be arrested by the KPK this year. The arrest occurred in Pemalang Regency.

KPK Deputy Chairman Fitroh Rohcahyanto confirmed the arrest but declined to provide details about the case or the number of individuals detained alongside the regent, referring inquiries to the KPK spokesperson. Widiyantoro, who began his term as regional head on February 20, 2025, alongside Deputy Regent Nurkholes, was elected with support from a coalition of parties including Golkar, Perindo, PSI, Gelora, and Partai Buruh.

Widiyantoro, born March 20, 1970, has a significant corporate background, primarily within state-owned enterprises (BUMN). His career spans from 1996 to 2021 at PT WIKA, where he held various positions including financial staff, internal auditor, and general manager. From 2021 to 2024, he served as the Finance, Human Capital, and Risk Management Director at PT Hotel Indonesia Property (PT Hipa). He completed his undergraduate studies in Financial Management at Universitas Diponegoro and holds a Master's degree in Economics and Business from Universitas Padjajaran.

According to his Report on State Officials' Wealth (LHKPN) submitted to the KPK, Widiyantoro declared assets totaling Rp21.3 billion. The KPK has been actively pursuing regional leaders suspected of corruption, with Widiyantoro's arrest following 11 previous apprehensions of regional heads in 2026. The corruption methods employed by these officials vary, including bribery, extortion, and gratification.
