Another hot summer day ahead: temperatures to reach 39 degrees Celsius

Serbia is bracing for another intensely hot summer day, with temperatures predicted to soar as high as 39 degrees Celsius. A vast anticyclone currently dominating the region is channeling dry and extremely warm air across the country, pushing temperatures significantly above the average for this time of year.

The forecast indicates predominantly sunny and very warm conditions throughout the day, accompanied by light to moderate easterly and southeasterly winds. This prolonged period of high temperatures is a cause for concern, particularly for vulnerable populations.

The Republic Hydrometeorological Institute has warned that the heatwave is expected to intensify further from August 5th to August 8th. During this period, maximum temperatures are projected to reach around 40 degrees Celsius in most locations, with some areas potentially experiencing even higher readings, especially in the Pannonian Basin.

Meteorologists advise that the biometeorological conditions are unfavorable for individuals with chronic illnesses, potentially triggering meteorotropic reactions. The UV index is also reported to be very high, necessitating adequate protection from solar radiation. A slight decrease in temperature is anticipated between August 8th and 13th, followed by another warming trend mid-month.

The Republic Hydrometeorological Service forecasts that the intensity of the heatwave will further strengthen in the period from August 5 to 8, when maximum temperatures around 40 degrees Celsius are expected in most places, locally even higher.
