Antti Ojanperä's horses achieve historic triple win at Kuninkuusravit

In a remarkable feat at the Kuninkuusravit trotting race in Tampere, trainer Antti Ojanperä's stable secured an unprecedented triple victory in the prestigious trotting king competition. This historic achievement saw horses from his Pihtipudas-based stable claim the gold, silver, and bronze titles.

It was already notable that five horses from Ojanperä's stable vied for the coveted trotting king crown. The competition culminated with Pro, the previous year's runner-up, leading his stablemates Vänrikki and Evartti to a clean sweep. Vänrikki impressed as a first-time competitor, while the legendary three-time trotting king Evartti showed strong form in what may be his final races before retirement.

Despite strong favorites like Pro and Jockas Rita facing defeat in the final leg, Pro's dominance in the earlier heats secured his victory. He won the first two races convincingly, entering the final marathon leg with a significant lead. Although Vänrikki narrowly beat Pro in the final stretch by a mere 0.7 seconds in combined times, Pro's overall performance earned him the title.

"Pro deserved the kingship and was brilliant here. The stallion has come into incredible shape," Ojanperä commented, noting the horse's unique character. He expressed a desire to spend more time with his family after a demanding summer. The trainer hinted at future successes, potentially even surpassing this year's achievement at next year's event in Lappeenranta.
